Maintenance of IHM Part I
According to the EU SRR and the Hong Kong Convention, the IHM Part 1 must always be maintained up-to-date during the operational lifetime of the vessel. VERIFAVIA SHIPPING can take care of this process on behalf of shipowners in the most efficient way.
Overview
According to the EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU SRR) and the Hong Kong International Convention for The Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (HKC), the IHM Part-I of the vessel shall be maintained throughout the operational life of the vessel. During this process, the IHM Part-I of the vessel should be updated as soon as any hazmat (falling under scope of the regulation) is added to or removed from the vessel which is to be supported by a Material Declaration (MD) and Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) from the supplier or relevant removal report/documents.
About IHM Maintenance
Once the IHM Part-I of the vessel has been developed, it needs to be maintained and updated throughout the operational life of the vessel. The IHM Part-I of the vessel shall represent the actual condition of the Hazardous material found onboard and therefore, it needs to be updated meticulously if any equipment or machinery or coating is added, removed, or replaced onboard.
The installation and / or removal of any equipment onboard shall be supported by Material Declaration (MD) & Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) from the supplier and removal report document respectively.
An updated and properly maintained IHM Part-I also ensures hassle free and smooth experience for the vessel and its owner/manager during any PSC inspection or any other inspection by authorities, Class survey, audits, renewal surveys etc.
Having an up-to-date IHM Part-I with updated entries for hazmat is an added advantage during any inspection. The goal of a maintained IHM Part-I is to have a complete and concise document which will be used by the crew working in the shipyards to perform an environmentally sound recycling of the ship without compromising on their own safety and health!
