Final Implementing Regulations adopted by European Commission |

The final two Implementing Regulations pursuant to the EU MRV Regulation were adopted by the European Commission on 4th November 2016 and published in the OJ on 5th November 2016, as Implementing Regulations 2016/1927 and 2016/1928. Regulation 2016/1927 sets out the templates for developing monitoring plans, emissions reports and documents of compliance, and Regulation 2016/1928 sets out the parameters to determine cargo carried for categories of ship others than passengers, ro-ro, and container ships.

Marine Fuel and Lubricants Conference on 7-8 December in Rotterdam |

This conference aims to facilitate discussion of the most important issues in the maritime industry, including: financial and economic overviews of marine fuels and lubricants, the industry's environmental impact, as well as bunker quality and quantity and alternative fuels and new technologies. In addition, speakers will also cover topics relating to regional and global markets, including legal issues, and the opportunities and challenges relating to LNG bunkering.

Verifavia Shipping hosted two free webinars on 16th November, to discuss the latest updates and provide an overview of the EU MRV Regulation. In both the webinars, Julien Dufour - CEO, Nicolas Duchene - Technical Director at Verifavia Shipping and Nikolas Theodorou – Managing Director, Verifavia Shipping (Hellas) spoke about various topics relating to the regulation.

We are pleased to introduce Stylianos Smyrlakis who recently joined the Verifavia Shipping team in Greece as Technical Expert, Shipping. Stylianos brings with him over 40 years of extensive working experience in almost all sectors of shipping. He has previously worked as Fleet Manager and Superintendent Engineer for several major Greek shipping operators and has also worked as a Senior Principal Surveyor and as Engineering Manager. In Verifavia Shipping, his job responsibilities will primarily include conducting pre-assessment audits and pre-verification audits, in line with the requirements of the EU MRV Regulation.
