Preparation of IHM Part I, Part II & Part III

Verifavia Shipping has developed capabilities to prepare Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) for ships subject to the EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU SRR) and / or the Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships.

Overview

From 31 December 2018, new European ships and EU-flagged ships going for dismantling must hold on board an Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) verified by the relevant flag administration.

For all existing EU-flagged ships as well as ships from third countries calling at an EU port or anchorage, the approved IHM Part-I and Inventory Certificate (EU flagged vessel) or Statement of Compliance (non-EU flagged vessel) will be required from 1 July 2021 (after six months grace period owing to COVID-19 pandemic - recently one vessel was detained and fined in Italian port by PSC for not having certified IHM Part-I and inventory certificate onboard. Vessel was finally released upon providing interim IHM certificate from class and paying the fine.)

Once the decision to recycle a ship flying the flag of a Member State has been taken, as per EU SRR article 5 para 7, IHM Part-II (for operationally generated waste) and IHM Part-III (for stores) shall be developed keeping into account all the relevant IMO guidelines and which will be then verified by flag administration, or a recognised organisation authorized by flag.
