Verifavia hits 1,000-assessment milestone as MRV deadline looms

Emissions verification company Verifavia now has more than 1,000 ships and monitoring plans under assessment to comply with the EU’s monitoring, reporting, and verification (EU MRV) regulation.

With its first legal deadline due on 31 August, the EU MRV regulation applies to all ships above 5,000gt, regardless of flag, on all voyages to, from and between EU ports. It requires shipowners and operators to annually monitor, report and verify CO2 emissions.

Verifavia’s client roster comprises many leading global shipping companies, while global ICT providers, such as StormGeo, are entrusting Verifavia to certify their EU MRV ICT solutions, which seek to streamline the data collection and reporting process for shipping companies needing to comply with the regulation.

The company is currently working with around 60 shipping companies, spanning 1,052 ships, and has certified EU MRV solutions and systems for 16 ICT providers.
