Verifavia Shipping on track for EU MRV accreditation
Verifavia is already accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) according to BS EN ISO 14065:2013 (Greenhouse gases. Requirements for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies for use in accreditation or other forms of recognition) for the aviation sector.
UKAS established a project to develop accreditation as required by the EU MRV Regulation . Under the Regulation, accreditation of verification bodies under ISO 14065 is required for the assessment of monitoring plans and the verification of emissions.
On satisfactory completion of assessment by UKAS and on timely completion of the pilot assessment programme requirements, the applicants will be accredited to ISO/IEC 14065 for the assessment of monitoring plans and the verification of GHG emissions under Regulation 757/2015.
Verifavia has already applied to UKAS for an extension of scope to include shipping under the EU MRV Regulation. Verifavia expects to be one of the first ever accredited verification bodies for maritime transport in January 2017.
