The inside track on MRV regulation

Environmental legislation is a key driver of change in today’s shipping industry, presenting both challenges and opportunities.

Hot on the heels of the emission control area (ECA) regulations that came into force on 1 January this year, on 1 July 2015, the EU’s monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) system came online. This requires vessels over 5,000 gross tonnes to report fuel consumption, carbon emissions and transport work for voyages entering EU ports.
