Update on the Commission's MRV working groups
for the drafting of delegated and implementing acts

  
The two working groups set up by the European Commission to help draft the delegated and implementing acts pursuant to the EU Shipping MRV Regulation 2015/757 held their third meeting in late January 2016. The work is progressing as planned and decisions have started to be taken. To summarise:
  • A second version of a Monitoring Plan template has been drafted
  • The rules for the determination of cargo carried have been defined for almost all ship types
  • The rules for verification and accreditation of verifiers are well advanced
  • IMO emissions factors shall now be used instead of IPCC

NEDA Maritime ‘MRV Ready’ and on course to meet EU carbon regulations

Challenges of Shipping MRV for multipurpose / heavy lift vessels



 
    
 MRV Regulation 2015/757 came into force on 1st July 2015 and is viewed as a first step  towards cutting CO2 emissions from maritime transport in the European Union (EU). From  2018, it will require operators of ships exceeding 5,000 GT to monitor, report and submit  their independently verified carbon emissions on all voyages to, from and between EU  ports. [...]
