Mr. Dufour & Mr. Theodorou present Verifavia Shipping
and the benefits of its EU MRV services.

With more than 22,000 visitors from 101 countries, Posidonia 2016 was a great success for both organisers and exhibitors.  Verifavia Shipping delivered EU MRV Masterclasses to nearly 30 participants and was interviewed by various media outlets – a real testament to the growing interest in emerging greenhouse gas regulations such as the EU MRV, within the shipping sector. The video below from Green4Sea features Verifavia Shipping CEO, Julien Dufour, and Managing Director at Verifavia Shipping (Hellas), Nikolas Theodorou presenting Verifavia Shipping and the EU MRV Regulation (2015/757), as well as highlighting the advantages for ship owners and operators choosing to act now by conducting a pre-verification GAP-Analysis – to ensure a timely, efficient, and burden-free compliance.

MRV Implementation discussed at ESSF Plenary (Ship & Bunker)

Following the most recent plenary meeting of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum (ESSF) in Brussels on 28 June 2016, Julien Dufour explained the challenges ahead for the implementation of the EU MRV in an article published on the Verifavia Shipping website. The article was subsequently reported by Ship & Bunker and Green4Sea. The publication of these Acts is expected before the end of this year. And, based on inputs provided by experts from the ESSF working group, the Implementing Act will define technical rules for cargo monitoring for all ship types, set relevant templates for monitoring plans and emissions reports along with submission rules (for companies and verifiers). Conversely, the Delegated Act will include additional rules on accreditation and verification, and eventually an update of the technical elements for calculating and monitoring fuel (and other parameters) indicated in the Annexes I and II of the EU MRV Regulation 2015/757.

Verifavia Shipping at UKCS EU MRV Seminar

Verifavia Shipping will take part in this year’s UK Chamber of Shipping (UKCS) ‘EU MRV Seminar’. The event which will be held at the UKCS offices seeks to help shipowners to understand the specific requirements associated with the implementation of the regulation. Given the EU MRV Regulation is new and unfamiliar to the industry, the UKCS event will offer shipowners and operators the opportunity to engage with MRV experts and to ask questions on all aspects of the regulation. It will also offer a good platform to facilitate the exchange of best practices and key learnings or experiences.
