IMO DCS (data collection system) now in force!

   
 
On 1st March 2018, the amendments to MARPOL Annex VI, Regulation 22A, on the fuel oil data collection of ships came into force. 

Starting from 1st January 2019, ships of 5,000 Gross Tonnage (GT) or above shall collect fuel consumption data, hours underway and distance travelled according to procedures, systems and responsibilities to be outlined in a Data Collection plan (DCP), which is to be included in the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) Part II by December 2018.

The DCS shall be prepared in accordance with the 2016 Guidelines for the Development of a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan adopted by Resolution MEPC.282 (70), and shall be reviewed by the Flag Administration or an organisation duly authorised by it. A Confirmation of Compliance is issued by the Flag Administration confirming the successful review of the DCS, which should be kept on board for the period of its validity. [...]

Verifavia expands ship verification services to include Clean Shipping Index (CSI)

   
 
Verifavia has expanded its global offering of verification services to include the Clean Shipping Index (CSI).

CSI is an independent rating system that was initially established in 2011 to assess the environmental performance of ships and shipping companies, as well as encourage sustainable practices via market incentives for clean shipping. 

The addition of CSI is anticipated to enhance Verifavia’s portfolio of services for the shipping sector, which currently includes EU Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV), IMO Data Collection System (DCS) and Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG) verification.
